Doğu Akdeniz Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi, Barış için Araştırma ve İletişim Merkezi (Center for Research and Communication for Peace – CRCP) katkılarıyla düzenlenen “Günümüzde Siber ve Bilgi Tehditlerinin Yeni Boyutları: Yanıt Verme Şansımız Hâlâ Var mı?” başlıklı seminere ev sahipliği yaptı. Yrd. Doç. Dr. Huri Yontucu’nun moderatörlüğünde gerçekleşen etkinlik, hibrit ve bilişsel tehditlerin günümüz bilgi ekosistemini nasıl dönüştürdüğüne odaklanarak öğrenciler ve akademisyenler için önemli bir tartışma alanı sundu.

Konuşmacı Dr. Mateusz Łabuz, Hamburg Üniversitesi Barış Araştırmaları ve Güvenlik Politikası Enstitüsü (IFSH) araştırmacısı olarak dezenformasyon, bilişsel savaş, siber-fiziksel tehditler ve AB’nin siber güvenlik politikalarına ilişkin güncel değerlendirmeler paylaştı. Diplomatik kariyeri ve derin sahte/sentetik medya üzerine yürüttüğü çalışmalardan örneklerle, toplumların bilgi dayanıklılığını güçlendirmek için nasıl stratejiler geliştirebileceğine dair kapsamlı bir perspektif sundu.

Eastern Mediterranean University Faculty of Communication hosted a compelling seminar titled “New Dimensions of Cyber- and Information Threats: Do We Still Have a Chance to Respond?”, organised with the contributions of the Center for Research and Communication for Peace (CRCP). Moderated by Assist. Prof. Dr. Huri Yontucu, the event brought together students and academics to explore how hybrid and cognitive threats are reshaping the contemporary information environment.

Guest speaker Dr. Mateusz Łabuz, researcher at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg (IFSH), presented critical insights on disinformation, cognitive warfare, and emerging cyber-physical threat patterns. Drawing on his experience as a former diplomat and his academic work on deepfakes and synthetic media, Dr. Łabuz discussed the challenges facing Europe’s information resilience and cybersecurity policies, offering a nuanced perspective on how societies can strengthen their capacity to respond.
